Titanium

Metalysis is currently producing sample volumes of powder feedstock and ASTM Grade 4 titanium. These are being supplied to its partners for characterisation and further development work. The Company’s planned product range is listed below. Chemical and physical specification sheets will be available on product launch.

Products will be available in forms that include wire, plate and sheet and in both HDH substitute and spherical powders.

Commercially Pure Titanium:

  • Ti powder feedstock

    Ti powder feedstock

Metalysis is scaling up its production to provide small quantities of titanium powder as a feedstock for a range of specialist alloy applications. Please contact the company for further details.

Status: In scale-up. Samples being provided to select partners.

  • ASTM Grade 4

    ASTM Grade 4

Grade 4 Ti has the highest strength of the four ASTM grades as well as good ductility and moderate formability. The strength to weight ratio of ASTM Grade 4 is retained at moderate temperatures. This grade also has good impact properties at low temperatures and can be reasonably welded, cast, machined and hot and cold worked.

Status: In scale-up. Samples being provided to select partners.

  • ASTM Grade 3

    ASTM Grade 3

Grade 3 is a general purpose grade that has very high corrosion resistance both in oxidising and reducing environments and an excellent strength to weight ratio. It also has good impact properties at low temperatures and can be welded, machined, cast and hot and cold worked.

    Status: In scale-up.

  • ASTM Grade 2

    ASTM Grade 2

Grade 2 is mainly used in general industrial applications where strength, ductility and formability are required. Grade 2 also has good impact properties at low temperatures and a high degree of resistance to corrosion in seawater. Typical applications include vessel liners, salt water pipes and heat exchangers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas and medical and marine markets. ASTM Grade 2 can be more easily welded, machined, cast and hot and cold worked

ASTM Grade 2 material can be easily welded, machined, cast and hot and cold worked.

    Status: In Scale-Up

  • ASTM Grade 1

    ASTM Grade 1

Grade 1 is the highest purity of the four ASTM CP grades with the best ductility (at room temperature) and formability, although the lowest strength. It also is corrosion resistant in both oxidising and reducing environments. Grade 1 is used in applications where formability is paramount with applications including explosive bonding and heat exchangers.

    Status: In research

Titanium Alloys:

  • Ti powder feedstock

    ASTM Grade 5

Ti 6-4 is a general-purpose alpha-beta alloy in widespread use, particularly in the aerospace sector. The alloy is a balance of tensile strength, fatigue strength and fracture toughness. Ti 6-4 is also resistant to corrosion in salt water with applications in engines, air-frames, pressure vessels, fasteners, medical implants, automotive components, jewellery, marine and sports equipment.

    Status: In research.

Further near alpha and beta alloys will join the product pipeline as the Company’s product range matures.
